Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SimplyOCR ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

SimplyOCR provides an online optical character recognition (OCR) service that allows users to extract text from images and PDF documents. The Service includes:

• Text extraction from uploaded images (PNG, JPG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF)
• Text extraction from PDF documents
• Smart content type detection (tables, receipts, forms, etc.)
• Multiple output formats (Plain Text, Markdown, CSV, JSON)

3. Usage Limits

The free tier of SimplyOCR includes the following limitations:

• 5 extractions per day: Each user is limited to 5 OCR extractions per 24-hour period
• 10MB file size limit: Individual files must not exceed 10 megabytes
• Supported formats: Only specified image and PDF formats are accepted

Attempting to circumvent these limits through technical means (VPNs, multiple accounts, automated scripts, etc.) is prohibited and may result in permanent blocking.

4. User Responsibilities

By using SimplyOCR, you agree to:

4.1 Acceptable Use

• Use the Service only for lawful purposes
• Not upload content that violates any laws or third-party rights
• Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Not interfere with or disrupt the Service

4.2 Prohibited Content

You may NOT upload files containing:

• Illegal content or content promoting illegal activities
• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
• Content that infringes intellectual property rights
• Malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Content that violates others' privacy without consent
• Hate speech or content promoting violence

4.3 Sensitive Data Warning

You are solely responsible for the content you upload. Do not upload documents containing highly sensitive information such as:

• Social Security numbers or government IDs
• Financial account numbers or credit card information
• Medical records or health information
• Passwords or security credentials
• Confidential business information

While we do not store files, they are transmitted for processing. Use your own judgment regarding sensitive content.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Your Content

You retain all rights to the content you upload. By using SimplyOCR, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the OCR service. This license terminates immediately upon completion of processing.

5.2 Our Service

The SimplyOCR service, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our Service.

6. Disclaimers

6.1 Service Provided "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

6.2 OCR Accuracy

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of OCR results. The Service uses AI technology that may produce errors, especially with:

• Low-quality or blurry images
• Handwritten text
• Complex layouts or formatting
• Unusual fonts or languages

Always verify extracted text for accuracy, especially for important documents.

6.3 Service Availability

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SIMPLYOCR, ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
• Any damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service
• Any damages arising from unauthorized access to your data
• Any errors or inaccuracies in OCR results

Our total liability for any claims arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SimplyOCR and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Content you upload to the Service

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including:

• Violation of these Terms
• Abuse of the Service or rate limits
• Uploading prohibited content
• Any other conduct we deem harmful to the Service or other users

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which SimplyOCR operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
